Sometimes you find something great, that you’re not expecting, in your own backyard. In this case, it’s Toronto band Heartbeat Hotel and their gem of an album, ‘Fetus Dreams’. Although the LP has been out for a while, I’ve just come across it recently. It’s really hard to classify this one folks….pop, rock, experimental, noise….it’s all here really. Matt & Kim have announced the release date for their new album, ‘Sidewalks’ will be November 2nd via Fader Label. The first single off the album is titled ‘Cameras’ and will be realeased on the 31st of August. The duo will then embark on a North American tour this fall with a stop here in Toronto on October 29th at The Phoenix. I’ve got my tickets, have you? Check out Matt & Kim on Myspace.

The guys and gals of Los Campesinos! are headed back to North American shores this fall in support of their latest effort, ‘Romance Is Boring’. They also have an acoustic only EP out right now, ‘All’s Well That Ends’, which you ought to check out. The band starts their tour off in our very city October 8th @ Wrongbar. I’ve been listening to ‘I Don’t Believe You’ on a very regular basis since the song first came out and I’m pretty stoked that we now have a video to go with it. If you haven’t heard the song before, feast your eyes on the video below and get the best of both worlds. The Thermals 5th studio LP, ‘Personal Life’ will be out September 7th on Kill Rock Stars. It was reported over at NME today that Los Angeles four-piece ‘Warpaint’ will release their debut studio album on October 25th. The LP will be titled ‘The Fool’ and is produced by Tom Biller who has also worked with The Liars and Sean Lennon. You can check out the album art along with the tracklisting over @ NME. Toronto’s Rural Alberta Advantage have been in the studio recently working on a follow up to their debut album, ‘Hometowns’. The band mentioned on a myspace blog post that there is “no title yet, though we have names for most of the songs, at least”. They are looking for an early 2011 release. Can’t wait. Toronto indie rockers ‘The Golden Dogs’ have a new album out and I have a confession to make. I’ve had ‘Coat Of Arms’ for just under 3 weeks now and until tonight I had not listened to any of it. What the hell was I thinking? This album is chock-full of incredible songs. Two and a half weeks of my life that I could have spent listening to this sucker. Head over to Nevado to buy the LP.
