THE INDIE MACHINE

It was reported over at NME today that Los Angeles four-piece ‘Warpaint’ will release their debut studio album on October 25th. The LP will be titled ‘The Fool’ and is produced by Tom Biller who has also worked with The Liars and Sean Lennon. You can check out the album art along with the tracklisting over @ NME. Ten Bears hail from Manchester UK. The band recently released their debut single, ‘Braces’ on East City Records. Their catchy brand of indie synth-pop is not going unnoticed. The band has already played Glastonbury, SXSW and this years NXNE festival here in Toronto. All this and they have yet to release an album. Keep an eye on these guys, I expect good things to come. Vancouver’s Japandroids took the stage at Lee’s Palace during NXNE by proposing “let’s get fucking crazy tonight”. They were so intense, they kinda broke our camera for a bit….but we kept the film rolling through three tracks: “Press Corps”, “Art Czars” and “Wet Hair”. Japandroids on Myspace.

The nights of NXNE got just a little more odd thanks to Austin, Texas’ The Strange Boys, who set up residence at The Silver Dollar for a multi-night residency. Check out their tracks “Should Have Shot Paul” and “Da Da”. Check them out on Myspace.

Comanche leader Ten Bears might’ve left behind a legacy of peaceful treaties, but Manchester, UK’s Ten Bears showed up for NXNE and unleashed an electro-rock firestorm on the crowd at the El Mocambo. Check out: “Slasher”, “Fireheart” and “New Kicks”. Ten Bears on Myspace.

Powerpop quintet The Withouts hit the stage at Rancho Relaxo during NXNE with fire. Trust us when we say it was getting hot in there….so hot everyone was coming down with a fever.
