Video: WILD CUB – Thunder Clatters
Originally touring under his own name, singer/songwriter/composer Keegan DeWitt joined up with Nashville musician Jeremy Bullock (JESSIE BAYLIN, MADI DIAZ, PICO VS. ISLAND TREES) for a tour in 2011 that would eventually see the creative duo settling back down in November in their native Nashville under a new name: WILD CUB.
Debuting under the moniker at SxSW 2012 only a few months later, the indie-pop outfit soon took on dates at Bonnaroo, CMJ, New York Fashion Week (for designer Billy Reid), and hit the road on tour with Norwegian indie-rocker SONDRE LERCHE and NYC new-wave pop-rockers GUARDS.
WILD CUB’s debut LP Youth was written and recorded over two months in Bullock’s multi-room home studio, and released to praise in the USA back in August 2012 via Big Light Recordings, but they’ve only recently dropped an official video for single Thunder Clatter. The song was included in an interesting montage video I happened to catch on Vimeo over the holidays: a real feel-good track that harkens back to the danciness of M83′s Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, but with a darker TWIN SHADOW-like dance flair (some have said the multi-part harmony vocals are Chris Martin-evoking, but I’m inclined to disagree)
