Our good friends over at Silent Shout recently turned us onto the sounds of northern Alberta’s WAND – they hail from Grande Prairie to be exact. The project is mainly the work of Derek Janzen who started making music out of his bedroom back in 2008. Fast forward four years and he is set to release his third studio album.

Currently there are only three songs from the long player up for stream on the Bandcamp page – you can check them out in the embed below. We quite like all of them but we’re particularly smitten with Beach People – you’ll hear why after just one listen. While you’re at it, be sure to check out his previous two releases, Black Beach, and Wand at the link above.

The new LP Mt. St. Helens is set to drop on August 3rd, so keep your eyes and ears open. In case you forget, we’ll be sure to remind you.
