Mix equal parts dream/synth/electro-pop, toss in some drum machines, add a female frontwoman for flavour and you’ll get iM’s May 2012 featured artist: WENDY VERSUS.

Featuring Wendy Leung (PAPERMAPS) on vocals/keyboards, Dean Marino (PAPERMAPS, TIN STAR ORPHANS) on guitars, and Owen Norquay (SOI DISANT, SHOW GOPHER) on bass and drum machines, WV seek to merge analog and digital – organic and machine – like the smoothly produced lovechild of an early-90s video game soundtrack and the contemporary dream-pop soundscape.

Lead by Leung’s songwriting, their music has a forward-moving drive that is simultaneously sway-able and yet dream-inducing: they’re sure to be a winner in your book soon enough.

Their impending debut release entitled Crayon Wars is set to drop on June 1st at Sneaky Dees in downtown Toronto (via our friends TWO WAY MONOLOGUES)
