Anyone new to The iM may or may not have heard of Toronto indie-rock five-piece (occasionally six-piece) CAI.RO before – but it pretty much goes without saying that we’re totally hung up on these guys (and gal).
The band made their first official appearance as CAI.RO on EP.#80 of THE iNDiE MACHiNE – and its subsequent episode of The iM SESSIONS – back in April 2011 after frontman Nate Daniels decided that the band was no longer his namesake and was much more deserving of its own moniker. We subesequently selected them as our June 2011 Featured Artist leading up to the August 2011 release of their excellent debut EP Young Love.
The members of CAI.RO have continued to carve out a name for themselves across the GTA since then, with numerous live performances (a few of them with The iM), a spot on our live video series WIRED and a mixtape curation for our Weekend Sequence series, and have picked up accolades from everyone in the scene: including Toronto’s Lonely Vagabond and Alan Cross himself.
Add to this build-up, a few new songs, some upcoming music video work, and a killer live show and you’ve got yourself one heck of an act to check out for CMW 2012 – hit them up at their weblinks to get a feel for this violin-prominent rock with crooning frontman Nate Daniels at the helm, and check out their latest video offering “Lullaby” in the embed below.
