New Release: BANQUET – Impasse

Though he labels it folk-rock, BANQUET is the solo project of Guelph ON-based Scott Herder, and in some regards it tends to lend itself more towards the lighter-fare side of the alt-rock camp.
Herder’s haunting new EP, Impasse (Released Feb 16th) sees his reverb-heavy vocals layered atop an acoustic-prominent rock backing, falling somewhere between the styles of BRAND NEW and MATTHEW GOOD.
Track “Tides” actually features “selected lyrics” from John Steinbeck’s 1945 novel Cannery Row, so there’s something of an academic/novelist about this singer/songwriter – check it out, along with the rest of Impasse, in the embed below.
