Fans of ever fun-minded Toronto pop-rock outfit Hooded Fang, and their friends from Toronto ambient-electro outfit Doldrums will surely be all over the new collborative project from HF’s Daniel Lee and April Aliermo, and Doldrums’ Airick Woodhead: Phèdre.

Allegedly, the trio got together throughout the summer in an attic with ” hundreds of bottles of cheap wine” in hand and envisioned a project loosely inspired by both Greek mythology (Phaedre, daughter of Minos and Pasiphë) and the Nancy Sinatra/Lee Hazelwood duet “Some Velvet Morning” – though curiously their press photos evoke more of an ancient-Egyptian motif.

The ambient-electronic-sounding Phèdre is set to drop their debut self-titled LP digitally on Feb. 14th 2012 with Toronto-based Daps Records (current home to both Hooded Fang and Doldrums) – leading up to the date, the band have released a video for the lead single off the effort “In Decay”, filmed by Toronto’s Jesse Ewles – check it out in the embed below (it’s most likely NSFW… unless your workplace is awesome… consider this your warning).
