Band Watch: ELEKTROTANK

He may not have a single show to his name under the ELEKTROTANK moniker, but Toronto ambient electronic man Eytan Tobin is someone you’re going to be hearing about very soon.
… besides in this post…
As a drummer, bassist, keyboardist, and former member of folk-rock quartet Formalists, Tobin’s stuff is layered and fairly percussion-heavy, so the trip-hop, dubstep, and occasional industrial influence isn’t surprising – what IS surprising though is how subdued that hint of dubstep conveys itself in his music, especially since the genre is typically criticized for being so overtly in-your-face.
Tobin has been putting out his dark-sounded ambient concoctions for about a year, though his last few single-song releases were what first caught our ear here at The iM – check out the latest two: Annex, and She Evaporated, Turned 1/2 Her Size in the embeds below.
If we’ve piqued your interest, come and check out ELEKTROTANK live as he opens up the night for The iM’s first all-electronic rock showcase at The Silver Dollar this Friday with ECHO ECHO, OLD ENGLISH, and MOST PEOPLE – it’s gonna be ridiculously awesome.
