What were you doing for Day 4 of NXNE? At the Dakota Tavern, Horse Feathers put the audience into a dreamy state of violin and cello magic. The audience was soon after woken up by the duel-drummered Secret Cities – coming all the way from Fargo, North Dakota to bring us some amazing double drumming action, simultaneous guitar and wicked keyboard playing.

Toronto’s own New Country Rehab brought a whole new level of energy to the show, and there were many smiles shared between band members and the audience included – we sincerely hope if you were in attendence you caught a good view of dancing upright-bass player Ben Whiteley and the incredible fiddling of John Showman.

Entire Cities soon filled the stage with their plethora of band members, and the audience quickly started dancing around in excitement, loving the flute/saxophoning of Ruhee Dewji and the hilarity of bobbing bassist Paul Sorensen. And did you see their drummer?…Andrew Bartle is all kinds of crazy awesome!!

Speaking of crazy: Hot Wax Meltdown concluded the show with a big bang of it – knocking over a tray of shots, drinking with the audience mid-set, and enticing drunken chiquitas to join them in some dancing practically onstage; this band truly brought out the crazy in everyone. In particular, James Scott was one of the most insane and talented drummers I’ve ever had the opportunity to experience.

What a great lineup for Day 4 at the Dakota Tavern! Though it began with dreamy states, it quickly escalated with an ending of spaztic fury that the amped-up audience wouldn’t soon forget.
