7 Day Mixtape Vol. 1 – FOXES IN FICTION
This is the first in a series of weekly mixes we will be doing here at The Indie Machine. They will be released every Monday in the hopes that the music guides you through your busy week. Often it will be mixes we have put together ourselves and other times it will be guest mixes. Our first comes from an artist out of Toronto by the name of Warren Hildebrand. He goes by the moniker Foxes In Fiction. He has made quite a name for himself over the past year and we’re very pleased to have him on board for the very first 7 Day Mixtape! Visit him at any of the websites below.

1. Jurgen Paape – So Weit Wie Noch Nie
Lately I’ve had a fairly insatiable hunger for minimal techno stuff like this. Pretty much everything that Kompakt Records has put out really does it for me. Highly recommended stuff, friends.
2. Happy Trendy – Public Transit
I recently had the pleasure of helping to issue the album that this song appears on through my own little tape label, Orchid Tapes. This whole album, along with Dylan’s other project Kumon Plaza, is nothing short of amazing and everyone should have a little more of it in their lives.
3. Broadcast – Ominous Cloud
Broadcast’s music has been constantly filling my apartment space lately. Like anyone else who was ever so lucky to be graced by her beautiful and unique voice, I was hugely devastated by the death of Trish Keenan. Broadcast were and continue to be one of my biggest influences.
4. Fleetwood Mac – Dreams
I think this is one of the few songs I could listen to for the rest of my life and never grow sick of. Fleetwood Mac forever.
5. Portishead – Hunter
Everything about this song is so wonderfully dark, inviting and beautiful. Kind of like if you were to walk into the woods at night on drugs. I don’t understand why more people didn’t talk about this record when it came out. Maybe they did, I don’t know.
6. Circulatory System – The Lovely Universe
One of the first Elephant 6 bands I got into when I first moved to my new high school in Grade 10. This song in particular was a staple on the burnt CD-Rs. I would make for my friends when I wanted to show them new music.
7. Owen Pallett – The Great Elsewhere
The ending of this song could quite possibly be the lushest thing I’ve heard in my entire life as a music listener.
